Digital Paintings R Us!

Group Info

This group is for digital painting and tutorials on digital painting. It does not matter what program was used or if the lines was made with traditional media just as long as it was painted digitally. The group is for everyone who wants a place where the galleries have quality digital paintings only and no other media.

FAQ/RULES

Some questions and answers:

:bulletblue: 1. Who can become members?

Basically everyone. There is no skill level needed to become a member. :)

:bulletblue: 1. Who can become staff?

WE ARE CURRENTLY OPEN FOR CONTRIBUTOR APPLICANTS! We prefer it if you join as a member before applying. We'll look in the applicants favourites folder to try and judge whether or not you would be a good fit for choosing what art to accept or deny here in this group. It is more important to us that you have a good eye for art than it is for you to be good at producing art yourself, but we will prioritize people with at least some basic painting skill as it helps them judge quality. If you think you want to become a Contributor, note the group not the moderators :)

:bulletblue: 3. The level needed to get your painting accepted:

Our gallery contains high end medium, to very high level paintings and we reserve the right to reject any submission based on our opinion of quality. If you are uncertain as to what we mean by "high end medium" is we suggest you look in our galleries. It should provide you with an understanding as to what we accept.

Rules for submitting:

:bulletblue: We ONLY accept DIGITAL PAINTINGS! It doesn't matter what software is used to paint it or if the linework was done traditionally as long as the painting itself is purely digital. We don't accept 3-d or photo elements, or even ready-made photoshop textures if they are too obvious. (Like using Photoshop's brick wall texture for background.) BUT if the 3-D, photo elements, texture has been OVERPAINTED completely, and nothing sticks out and "looks fake" we will in most cases accept the submission. By overpainted we mean actually painted, not just adjusted with a Photoshop filter.

Using textures from cgtextures.com and such are of course completely fine.

Watermarks and Text over the image: We recognize and respect the artists right to mark their art to keep it from being stolen, but if the marks feel overwhelming we will not accept the painting in our galleries. We feel that it in some cases subtracts too much from the experience.

:bulletblue: You can submit 1 painting per week. If your painting got rejected it still counts, but if you yourself withdraw the painting before it gets voted on it does not count.

:bulletblue: Our gallery contains high end medium, to very high level paintings and we reserve the right to reject any submission based on our opinion of quality. We will judge the submissions on the colours as well as form. If for instance a painting has good pose and great anatomy but poorly done colouring, it will in most cases be rejected. By voting on the submissions we hope to be fair, but of course some people will always feel offended or hurt which is sad but unavoidable. We will rarely give a reason for the rejection except when the submission isn't a digital painting we will inform the member that we ONLY accept digital paintings.

If you want to know why your painting was rejected you have to use the correspondence message to ask, not the front page of the group. Otherwise we don't know what submission you refer to and we don't have access to the votes and notes page, and it is hard to answer your question without it. But please, be civil people. It is hard enough to reject peoples paintings as it is.

:bulletblue: Remember to submit your painting to the right gallery folder. At the moment we will not reject your submission if you submit to the wrong folder, but if the number of submissions grow significantly, we might start doing so.

Now the only thing left to say is welcome to the group, we hope you'll enjoy it here!

If you have any questions at all, please don't hesitate to note the group or me at my page! :)

Rejected or expired paintings?

Wed May 9, 2012, 1:43 AM by =inestical:iconinestical:

Hello,

If your submissions haven't gone through our system, it's because there is a slight problem on our side.

If you have a submission to make, please wait for few weeks until more information arrives how to solve it :)

So:
Most submissions won't make it through our system during the next few weeks or longer

This problem will be most likely be solved in two to three weeks, and I'll keep you all posted and updated whenever there happens something.

I'm terribly sorry for all the inconvience this has caused.

Yours,
:iconinestical: =inestical

There are a few anatomical errors, but above all it doesn't "smooth". We mainly make sure the pieces look as finished as possible, and many of the brushstrokes make it look rough.
